Valley Marine Training is run by Ali Travis, a professional skipper and sailing instructor with 14 years outdoor education experience and eight years as a sailing instructor. All of Ali's extensive knowledge and sea time can be at your disposal in her shorebased courses and own-boat tuition to help you become the best sailor and skipper possible.

Valley Marine Training is an RYA recognised training centre based in Holyhead, where shorebased courses are run within sight of the Irish Sea in the Holyhead Lifeboat Station's classroom. Our commitment to training is proved by the high levels of equipment provided for students: on radio courses there is one practise DSC VHF for every two students guaranteeing plenty of microphone time, and for first aid courses there is one resusci-Annie resuscitation dummy for every two students.

A graduate of the prestgious Ocean Youth Club 'Skippership' training programme, Ali sailed as staff first mate then skipper on the Ocean Youth Trust North West ketch Greater Manchester Challenge. Ali now works as a relief skipper for the Ocean Youth Trust and as a sailing instructor on small yachts. These years afloat have taken her on trans-Atlantic voyages to the Caribbean, to the Mediterranean and around the whole UK coast during yacht deliveries and while skippering sail training boats.
